Team Project Fall 2017

This is a general page about the Team Project that’s part of the CS6440 course. Teams will have a total of 6 required project deliverables to be completed as a team and a team evaluation to be completed individually.

Deliverable 0, is split into two parts (A & B) which should also be completed as team but submitted individually – See the Deliverable 0 page for more details. It is your responsibility to participate and form teams. Only under unique circumstances will the Instructors help form teams, we will mostly guide you using the Start-of-Course Survey, and cannot promise a favorable team. Once the teams submit their final team deliverables, each team member is required to submit a team evaluation, to evaluate the performance and contribution of their other teammates. The team evaluation is to be completed and submitted individually as a part of their overall project grade – See the Team Evaluation page for more details.

Each team member is required to submit a status report during the weeks that no project deliverables are due. We encourage the teams to work together to create the status reports during the teams weekly meetings and submit them individually. Submitting the status reports individually, gives each individual student the opportunity to share their individual thoughts about the project progression, interactions with teammates and mentors, etc. Again, status reports should be done with the team, although the assignment is submitted individually and considered part of participation. Please refer to either of the Status Report pages for more details.

  • D0 – Team Formation A – 1 point
  • D0 – Team Formation B – 2 points
  • D1 – Team Topic Presentation – 3 points
  • D2 – Team Technical Presentation – 5 points
  • D3 – Team Progress Report – 5 points
  • D4 – Team Final Project Presentation – 6 points
  • D5 – Team Final Project – 10 points

Deliverables 1-5 and all status reports must included an updated Gantt chart that tracks the roles, tasks and progression of the project. Although, this task is considered a project management responsibility – teams will be penalized if it is not included in their deliverables and status reports, as each team member should be involved in it’s development and progression throughout the life of the project.

Team Evaluations

Team Evaluations will open during Week 16, after all project deliverables have been submitted and hosted on T-square. These evaluations give each individual student/teammate the opportunity to review their teammate performance on the team. Of course, the evaluations must be backed with evidence from the Status Reports – for good or poor outcomes. It is worth 3 points of the overall 35 point project grade.

Below you can find a refined schedule that highlights the team deliverables, status reports and the team evaluation. You can find the full course calendar and all of the course deliverables here.
