Quizzes Fall 2018

This is a general page about the required quizzes as part of the CS6440 course. The quizzes are intended to help students enhance and retain their understanding of the lecture material. Students will have a total of 8 required quiz assignments that are hosted on Canvas. Each quiz is based on the lecture material, including any of the mention external content and resources (such as papers, articles, surveys and so on). The quizzes are based on the following lessons but can be cumulative in respect to the lessons applied to the earlier quizzes.

  • Quiz #1 – Lessons 1 & 2
  • Quiz #2 – Lessons 3, 4 & 5
  • Quiz #3 – Lesson 6
  • Quiz #4 – Lesson 7
  • Quiz #5 – Lesson 8
  • Quiz #6 – Lesson 9
  • Quiz #7 – Lesson 10
  • Quiz #8 – Lessons 11 & 12

The structure of the quiz will typically be a mix of the following question types:

  • Fill in the Blank
  • True/False
  • Multiple Choice
  • Multiple Selection
  • Matching
  • Numerical

Questions are randomized, therefore, you may not receive the same questions as another student. Keep in mind that you are not allowed to work together on quizzes, share solutions or discuss quiz questions nor answers via Piazza, Slack or any form of communication. Anyone found doing so will be reported for Academic Dishonesty. You are not prohibited from studying together to prepare for quizzes. If you have a question about a quiz question, post your question privately to the instructors of the course. If you find any misspelled words, non-working links or images in relation to the quiz, please notify the instructors via a private piazza post.

Note: This does not give an excuse to not finish your quiz as a result. Complete your quiz as best as you can and then notify the instructors of your findings. If necessary, we will provide the next steps or give back points, etc.

By default, students will be given a total of (2) attempts for each quiz. Each attempt is timed at 1 hour. Quizzes are open-note, open lecture and the number of questions vary. Your highest score will be kept. There are no make-up options for quizzes, however, you can keep on the look out for stretch assignments to help supplement missed points.
