This is a general page about the required assessments as part of the CS6440 course.
The assessments are intended to help students enhance and retain their understanding of the lectures and other course material. Students will have two such assessments during the semester and they will be hosted in the “Quiz” section on Canvas. Assessments comprise a set of questions based on the lecture material, case studies, recommended articles, programming activities, and any other content covered during the course. Note that lectures include both the Udacity lessons as well as the lectures from the on-campus class streamed via YouTube.
The assessments are based on the following course content during the corresponding weeks:
- Assessment 1 – Weeks 1-5
- Assessment 2 – Weeks 6-10
The structure of the assessments will typically be a mix of the following question types:
- Fill in the Blank
- True/False
- Multiple Choice
- Multiple Selection
- Matching
- Numerical
Questions are randomized, therefore, you may not receive the same questions as another student. Keep in mind that you are not allowed to work together, share solutions, or discuss questions nor answers via Piazza, Slack or any form of communication. Anyone found doing so will be reported for Academic Dishonesty. You are not prohibited from studying together to prepare for assessments. If you have a question about an assessment question, post your question privately to the instructors of the course via Piazza. If you find any misspelled words, non-working links or images in relation to the quiz, please notify the instructors via a private Piazza post.
Note: Even if you have questions regarding the assessment content, you should still complete the assessment as best as you can and then notify the instructors of your findings. If necessary, we will provide the next steps or give back points, etc.
You may take the assessment anytime during the week it is due, but once started you will have 60 minutes to complete. The number of questions may vary. Assessments are open-note and open lecture. You will have up to 2 attempts and will receive the higher score of the two. Note that there may be opportunities for “stretch assignments” to help supplement missed points.
