Activities Fall 2018

This is a general page about the Individual Activity Assignments that’s part of the CS6440 course. Students will have a total of 21 required activity assignments that are hosted on the INGInious Server.  Of the 21, there are 2 practice activities that students are required to complete for no additional credit and is not calculated with their individual assignment score. These activities are also hosted on the INGInious platform.

The activities are intended to help students inhance their individual “hands-on” skill that comes with practicing the use of the healthcare systems and tools. Students are required to complete the 21 activities, including the 2 practice activities by choice for no additional points.

Required Activities

There are 2 types of required activities – Independent and Bundled. The Independent activities are not directly connected with other activities. The Bundled activities, on the other hand, are directly connected to the other activities to which they are bundled with.

The advantage to having bundled activities, is that you don’t have to complete them all at once. In fact, you are given 2 weeks to complete the Data Standards Activities Bundle, 3 weeks to complete the FHIR Activities Bundle and 4 weeks to complete the Applied HI Activities Bundle. You can complete those activities anytime during those time frames, but they MUST be completed before the activities in each respective bundle closes or is due.

You will be allowed a maximum 20 attempts for each activity, so use them wisely. We will capture and use your best attempt/score. The goal is not to penalize you when you get a question wrong (at the first try), but to allow you the opportunity to think through the questions and respond appropriately. Additionally, this relieves a bit of anxiety that some may have when it comes to coding.

Below you can find a refined schedule that highlights the activity assignments. You can find the full course calendar and all of the course deliverables here.

A Note to Students

These activities, both required and optional, are to completed individually and independent of any type of outside sources (other than the lectures). You are not allowed to collaborate with other students or people outside the class on assignments – even if you are in a study group or thinking of working with your teammates. We take this very seriously and will run a plagiarism detector on all assignments. Additionally, we will be checking for suspicious activity (multiple failed attempts and then a great score). It is dishonorable for anyone found contributing to academic misconduct, so please avoid collaborating beyond what is allowed by the Georgia Tech Academic Honor Code. Even more specifically, you must not copy solutions verbatim from online resources (e.g., from students from any semester or course).

Additionally, if you happen to get stuck on an activity reach out to the instructors via private message in Piazza or via Slack. The teaching team would be more than happy to help guide you.
